Rule 1: Cardio. Rule 2: Double Tap. And remember: hooves don't need reloading. A short run through eternal night, Somepony Who Loves You after the break.
(huh, Phoe was right, it IS hard to get a good zombie pony picture)
Sometimes, bad things happen to good ponies. Sometimes, a good pony has to do bad things. Sometimes, some of these things involve the undead.
Eternal night has fallen, and with it, zombies have broken out across Equestria. Twilight is is holed up in the Sweet Apple Acres barn with the friends of hers that remain, struck by the silence and needing to clear her head, and hears a scream. Sweetie Belle has been attacked, and this brings about both the best and worst in the ponies present.
Twilight Sparkle is the main character, smart, but conflicted by almost everything, including her own mind. She... comes off as wrong, but it's actually fairly hard to place my hoof on, and it's actually not the conflict. It's a sense that permeates all the characters, so I won't mention it for the others. Big Macintosh is quite vocal for much of this and rather dark, which makes sense in the setting. Both Applejack and Rarity are much their normal selves, even with the dirty work that goes with the zombie apocalypse. Sweetie's character isn't the best defined, but... well, who is after an attack?
Not at all poor, but it does have some problems, mostly stemming from its feel. It feels a bit rushed overall, where a little time gone into world and character building and dramatic tension could have given everything just a little more oomph. They aren't weak or anything, just hazy to begin.
I like it, but I'm not 100% on it, to be honest. The concept is interesting and I will give it this: it has gotten me at least intrigued in the sequels (so expect more from this series probably next week).
Like zombies? Like ponies under strain? Then this story is for you.
And that is all for this week, my friends! I hope you enjoyed it! Have a wonderful week, everypony!
